Reflection on ILOs

During year 3, the Intended Learning Outcomes provided a clear framework for my development as a future professional.

Looking back at this year, I can see that I have made progress on multiple ILOs, especially in the areas of self-reflection, collaboration, sustainability, and developing a professional identity.

Personal leadership and self-reflection

One of the most important developments this year is my growth in personal leadership.

According to the ILOs, a professional should be able to critically reflect on their own actions and continuously improve based on these reflections.

For example, in projects like the finance assignment for Artis, I realized that I was sometimes too passive or only did what was required. This awareness shows that I am developing the ability to critically reflect on my behavior and translate this into concrete actions, which is a key part of the ILOs.

Collaboration and teamwork

Another important learning goal is the ability to collaborate effectively within teams and understand different roles and perspectives.

During this year, I worked in different group settings and experienced both active and passive roles. This helped me understand that collaboration is not only about contributing ideas, but also about taking responsibility, adapting to others, and finding a balance between leading and supporting.

The goal emphasizes the importance of teamwork and understanding collaborative processes within organizations. Although I have strong social and communication skills, I have learned that I still need to take more initiative and be more consistent in my contribution to the group work. Especially when we are working on a topic that does not really interest me. I need to find a way to make these things more interesting for me, so I have more motivation to work harder.

This is something I want to continue developing.

Sustainability and industry awareness

Another goal was thinking and working in a more sustainable way and creating multiple value. This has been one of the most important learning areas for me this year.

Through my internship at The Salty and my sustainability assignment, I developed a deeper understanding of how sustainability works in practice.

I learned that sustainability is not only a concept, but something that needs to be embedded in systems, processes, and daily operations.

Additionally, my experience in Cascais helped me understand the broader impact of tourism on destinations, which connects to the goal of taking multiple perspectives into account. This shows that I am developing a more holistic and critical view on the industry

Reflection, where I stand now

Looking at my past learning goals as a whole, I can conclude that I have made strong progress in self-awareness, reflection, understanding the industry, developing a vision, and recognizing my role within teams.

At the same time, there are clear areas for improvement such as taking more initiative when the subject does not interest me that much, maintaining consistency and discipline, and translating ideas into structured actions.

Looking forward
In line with the ILOs and my goals, development is an ongoing process. For year 4, I want to focus on a lot of things which I will talk about in the next chapter.
